Is there an HDB approved electrician list?
Not in the way most people imagine. Electricians in Singapore are licensed by EMA (the Energy Market Authority), not by HDB, the real check is the EMA ELISE register. HDB separately maintains a directory of renovation contractors, which is about renovation firms, not electrical licensing. Our guide explains the confusion and the right check.
How much does an HDB electrician cost?
Same market ranges as any licensed electrician: call-out S$50 to S$80 (typically waived on repair), small jobs S$40 to S$130, power points from about S$65, 15A points about S$115, DB work from about S$450, and rewiring packages from about S$1,800 by flat size. Our price guide has the full table.
Is rewiring an HDB flat necessary?
When the wiring reaches end of life, commonly cited around 25 years of design life, yes. HDB advises replacing wiring when its lifespan is over or condition has deteriorated. Under 20 years old with no symptoms, almost certainly not.
What is the HDB electrician hotline?
There is no HDB hotline that dispatches electricians into your flat. For supply-side outages call SP Services (1800 778 8888); for common-area faults tell your town council; for faults inside your flat you engage a licensed electrician directly. Our power trip page has the full decision tree.
Do HDB flats have special electrical rules?
Yes. All wiring installation work must be done by an EMA licensed electrical worker, cables must run in metal or high-impact PVC conduit, and some works, like new 15A power points in flats without upgraded loading, need an HDB permit first.
