Dead or loose power points, often a worn terminal or a failed loop connection feeding several sockets. What the diagnostic visit costs, and why
Market norms in Singapore: a transport or site-visit fee of S$50 to S$80, waived when you go ahead with the repair. That fee is not padding, it covers a licensed electrician travelling to you with test equipment and spending real time finding your fault. What it should never be is a surprise. You will see it in writing before anyone is dispatched, and the repair quote is itemised so you can compare it with anyone else's.

How much does an electrician cost in Singapore?
For repairs: expect a call-out or site-visit fee of S$50 to S$80 (typically waived if you proceed), then the job itself. Small repairs like a switch or socket replacement commonly run S$40 to S$130; bigger jobs like DB box work run into the hundreds. Our price guide lists real market ranges per job.
What are the most common electrical problems in Singapore homes?
Tripping breakers (usually overload, a faulty appliance or water ingress), dead or loose power points, flickering lights, worn switches, and heater or aircon circuits acting up. Age matters: wiring in flats older than 20 to 25 years fails more often.
Can you diagnose the problem over the phone?
We can narrow it down from your description and tell you whether it is urgent, but honest diagnosis needs a meter and eyes on your DB box. That is why the diagnostic visit exists, and why its fee is waived when you proceed with the repair.
Do I need a licensed electrician for small repairs?
Yes, legally. HDB guidance states plainly that only a licensed electrician can replace socket outlets, and EMA requires electrical work to be done or supervised by a Licensed Electrical Worker. Small does not mean exempt.
How long does a typical repair take?
Most single-fault repairs finish in one to three hours including diagnosis and testing. Anything needing parts we do not carry (unusual breakers, specific fittings) may need a short second visit, you will know before we start.
