The rules, in plain English
The charger must be type-approved. LTA maintains a list of approved charger models; yours has to be on it before it can be installed. A licensed electrician will not fit an unapproved unit, because the completed system cannot then be registered.
It must be registered with LTA. After installation the charger is certified and registered, there is a S$35 application fee. This is what makes the installation legal to use, not optional paperwork.
It must meet TR25 and be endorsed by an LEW. TR25 is the technical standard for EV charger installations. The work must be carried out and signed off by an EMA Licensed Electrical Worker , you can verify any electrician’s licence yourself before they start.
What it actually costs
Most home installations land between S$2,000 and S$8,000 all-in, with around S$3,500 typical. Broadly, the charger unit is about S$1,500 to S$3,000 and the installation, cabling, protection, isolator, labour and compliance, about S$800 to S$2,000. How much does EV charger installation cost in Singapore?
As a market guide, a complete home installation runs about S$2,000 to S$8,000, with roughly S$3,500 typical. The charger unit itself is around S$1,500 to S$3,000 and the installation labour and materials around S$800 to S$2,000. Do I need approval to install an EV charger in Singapore?

Can I install an EV charger in an HDB or condo carpark?
It is more involved than a landed home. HDB and condo installations need approval from the town council or the MCST because you are working in common property, and there may be a shared queue for electrical capacity. What size EV charger should I get for home?
A 7kW single-phase AC wallbox is the typical home unit and suits most overnight charging. If you have a three-phase supply and want faster top-ups, a 22kW unit is possible, but only if your DB and incoming supply can carry it. That capacity check is the first thing the electrician does. How long does an EV charger installation take?
The physical installation is usually a half-day to a day once everything is approved and the charger is on site. The longer part is the front end, confirming the charger is type-approved, checking your DB has capacity, and getting building or town-council sign-off for shared carparks. We give you a realistic timeline upfront rather than a best-case one.
