Is rewiring necessary, or am I being sold?
Honest test: wiring age and condition. HDB advises replacing wiring when its lifespan is over or the condition has deteriorated, and flat wiring is commonly described as designed for around 25 years. If your flat is 20+ years on original wiring, an inspection is warranted. If a contractor says "must rewire" without showing you deteriorated insulation or test readings, get a second opinion.
How long does whole-house rewiring take?
A typical HDB flat takes two to five days depending on size, concealed-versus-trunking choices, and how much relocating you want. It is disruptive, walls are opened for concealed runs, which is why rewiring pairs naturally with renovation.
Is it worth rewiring during renovation?

Who is allowed to rewire in Singapore?
