Power Trip Repair Singapore
A breaker that will not stay on is telling you something. We find what, an overloaded circuit, a failing appliance, water where it should not be, or a worn-out RCCB, and fix the cause, not just the symptom.

The four causes behind almost every trip
Overloaded circuit. The classic Singapore dinner-time trip: kettle, air fryer and rice cooker sharing one multi-plug. The MCB cuts out on current, not on principle, spreading the load or adding a point fixes it properly.
A failing appliance. If the trip follows one appliance around, the moment the water heater or washing machine starts, that appliance is leaking current. Unplug it and the circuit holds.
Water ingress. Damp ceilings, leaking aircon trunking and weathered outdoor points leak current to earth, especially after rain. The RCCB trips exactly as designed. This one genuinely needs diagnosis, the entry point is rarely where the symptom shows.
A worn protective device. RCCBs age. A unit that starts nuisance-tripping with no pattern may itself be at end of life, a straightforward replacement inside the DB box.
Before we arrive: one reset, then stop
Switch off the appliances on the affected circuit, reset the tripped breaker once, and reconnect appliances one at a time. If the breaker holds, you have found your culprit. If it trips again, stop resetting. In HDB flats, also check the second breaker at the common corridor near your front door; if both have tripped, an internal wiring fault is likely. HDB's own guidance is clear that socket and wiring repairs are licensed work, resetting is where DIY safely ends.

Power trip questions
Is it safe to flip a tripped breaker back on?
Once, yes, after switching off the appliances on that circuit. If it trips again immediately, stop. Repeated resets on an undiagnosed fault stress the wiring and can turn a small fault into a fire risk.
Who do I call for a power trip?
If breakers inside your DB box have tripped, the fault is in your unit, that needs a licensed electrician. If the whole block is dark or nothing has tripped but you have no power, call SP Services at 1800 778 8888, that is the supply side.
Why does my power trip when it rains?
Water ingress. A damp patch in the ceiling, a leaking aircon trunking or moisture in an outdoor point can leak current to earth, and your RCCB trips exactly as designed. The fix is finding and sealing the ingress point, not just resetting.
What does power trip repair cost?
Diagnosis typically runs S$50 to S$80 (usually waived when you proceed with the repair). The repair itself depends on the cause, a faulty appliance costs nothing but unplugging it, a worn RCCB is a modest part-and-labour job, while damaged wiring costs more. You get the quote before work starts.
What does it mean when electricity trips?
A trip means a protective device in your DB box detected something wrong, too much current on a circuit (overload or short) or current leaking to earth (shock risk), and cut the power on purpose. The trip is the symptom; the cause is what needs fixing.
